Woolx Crewneck review

Back in the fall Alannah & I had the opportunity to explore a bit of the beauty that is Vancouver Island!  I had only ever visited once,  and Alannah was a virgin to the beauty of Van!

Vancouver Island is located in British Columbia, Canada.  It’s the largest Pacific island east of New Zealand.

The area has one of the warmest climates in all of Canada.   Since the mid-1990s, it has been mild enough in a few areas to even grow subtropical Mediterranean crops such as olives and lemons! There are century old cedar trees, jungle like ferns, massive leaves…(detailed posts of our time in Tofino coming soon!)

Days before we packed up to hit the road I was shipped a merino wool Heavyweight Crewneck from Woolx.  We needed to pack light, as we were road tripping.

Right away I knew this would be a perfect piece to pack.  The days were cooling off, and we’d be spending our nights in a VW van.  I wanted something that would provide warmth, and comfort.  Something that I could hike in during the day, and even sleep in if the nights cooled down.  This piece did not disappoint.

It is super soft, (Wool has come a long way baby!) and not bulky at all for a heavyweight layer.  In fact I wasn’t sure it would be a warm, but I was pleased to find out it kept me super warm, while still feeling soft and comfortable against my skin.

We went on several short hikes while visiting Tofino, and it was great at wicking away moisture, did not chafe, and just felt good to wear.  A feature I really like-it’s a bit longer in the back, and it doesn’t ride up!

Since then I’ve used it for several fall & winter hikes, and it’s my go-to piece for days on the ski hill.  I especially love the thumb holes, (is that what they’re called) so it doesn’t pull up to your elbows when putting on other layers.

Alannah already tried to snag it from me.  At first I almost let her, as the emerald colour wasn’t that appealing to me, but after wearing it, I’ll for sure be keeping this one.  In fact I wouldn’t even care if it was baby-barf yellow.  Yes, I love it that much!

NOTE: I did select the color, but it  looked a lot more teal on the website, and I’d say it’s definitely emerald.  This would have to be the only negative point I could make about it.

I’ve washed this dozens of times, and it still looks brand new.  A great heavyweight base layer for our Canadian environmnet.

Here’s a pic of it today after dozens and dozens of washes.  It is just like new!  Plus it dries really fast.  I usually just hang it over a chair, although the care instructions tell you to just toss it in the dryer!

Last note:  I LOVE the Woolx guarantee!!  It was selling point for my husband when I convinced him to try Woolx underwear!  You should have seen his face!   “Wool?  wool.  On my goods?!”

Soft, itch-free, guaranteed warm, and never to shrink.  Do you yourself a favour and just go shopping.  A cute sheep told me Woolx has a clearance sale on right now!
