Top 5 Gifts for Outdoor Dads {& giveaway}

Father’s Day is FAST approaching and us Campsite Gals happen to be married to a couple of pretty amazing dads. They put up with a lot from us and they are the ones who have perfectly dubbed us Fire & Gasoline! They are supportive of our crazy dreams, the realists to those “pies in the sky,” and are mostly more than happy to help us with this venture – enter stage right – gear testing opportunities…. especially anything camping, hunting, fishing – these guys are in like dirty shirts.

As great as they are husbands, they are both outstanding fathers to all of our kids. Blessed!? You bet! When it comes to raising outdoor adventure children, these dads HAVE IT DIALED!

To celebrate all the outdoor daddies, we have compiled a list of a few things that have come our way of late for testing and reviewing that we know our men have enjoyed. Here’s our TOP 5 picks {that can be ordered online and a note placed in a card for Sunday – see we got you covered}:

1. WOOLX BOXER BRIEFS ~ cozy, warm, cool, addictive….
“Merino Wool boxer briefs, ours are like no other, once you wear these merino wool boxer shorts, you are sure to be hooked, we guarantee it.” So that pretty much summed it up for Trevor, who tested these as much as he possibly could because he basically washes them and wears them every day despite them being slightly too small. He insisted I declare that he really should have received an extra large.

In all seriousness, he is hooked and “needs more than one pair.” In a “nut” shell {did I mention I am a very punny person!?} Trev was hesitant with the idea of wool coming that close to his precious stones and it took some convincing with a sultry  “just show me how they look babe!?” Now I can’t get them off of him 😉

His exact words “Nice, soft fabric. Significant difference in keeping me dry compared to my usual briefs. Cool when needed, cozy when needed. I would wear these every day indoor, outdoor, work, play – whatever. Gift me these anytime in XL though!”

Woolx has generously offered for us to give away a pair of boxer briefs! Here is how:

One entry per person. Purchase not required. Please share the contest using hashtag #PapaNeedsUndies ~ Contest closes Sunday, June 21st, 2015 at 5:00 PM MST. Open to contestants in Canada and USA .
You must be 18 and older, answer a camping related skill testing question upon notification of winning and be able to supply a mailing address.

{the Essential Guide to Emergency Medical Procedures and First Aid 6th Edition} by Paul S. Auerbach

This book has single handedly captured the big and the small men in my household igniting ideas of what plants and bugs to eat, to safely dealing with ticks and critter bites.

This must have manual offers step by step instructions, how-to explanations and practical approaches to outdoor safety and wilderness emergencies. Not only is this handy guide full of good to know information, it also contains some how-to visuals – even birthing a baby. And yes – some of these illustrations have opened the door to some sex education chats around our fire pit!  To order the print version of this guide click here.

3. BIVY SAKS – We Ship – You Explore
the gift that keeps on giving!
We ADORED this gift and so did Gasoline’s husband when he saw what was inside this glorious box. What an awesome grouping of items to receive in the mail.

Basically Bivy Saks partners with some of the best outdoor products on the market to get great deals so they can offer this amazing membership based concept for $24.99 a month. Super fun, unexpected and definitely useable items. We were lucky in this case to sample this here in Canada as they currently only ship in the USA.

4. VSSL UTILITY TOOLS sleek, practical, lightweight – AND mom wants these too!
These uber cool vessels contain the outdoor gear needed for short-term excursions. A few days or a few hours, some critical supplies in a compact weather-resistant case is pretty much a good idea. And they just look like a cool, neato gift!2015-01-19_10.27.12_grande

5. TREELINE OUTDOORS ~ so much epic going on here!
When we first started chatting with the really nice guys over at Treeline Outdoors, another cool Canadian connection, we were {still are} in love with their rooftop tents for car camping. These tents are amazing ~ AMAZING – did you get that? AMAZING! Seriously – LOOK AT IT! Picture this – travelling across Canada to the east and back west via the USA this summer with one of these.  Oh – the ease. The glory. The talk of the road. Gasoline {Alannah here} is still dreaming of this.

After we pulled our tongues back in and started to blink our eyes again, we then explored the rest of their website. What a super cool collection of outdoor styled items they boast {we are privy to the mug and some wooly socks}. If a roof top tent is out of your budget, have a boo around their site. We are sure dads will love any of the gear and apparel there. AND guess what!? They are known to run a contest or two so keep looking to try and win a tent!

There you have it! We love these – our husbands have loved these items too!

Lol – I have no problem sending my dad these undies or any guy!! But I can see some people be like “ew! Give dad underwear!?”
Personally I’d love tech undies – I’m still waiting for fleece panties!!

That’s right camping goes a long way to improving your mood. It’s all to do with serotonin, that wonderful chemical our body produces that helps to make us happy.
