The Ultimate Adventure Guitar: Alpaca

My husband and I have been known to lug some pretty interesting items out on mountain adventures. From high-altitude hula-hooping to ironing under northern lights, we’ve managed to pull off some pretty great stunts.

For years we’ve been talking about doing mountain-top music sessions, and now thanks to Alpaca Guitar, we just might get the chance.

This “go-anywhere adventure guitar” is ruggedly built to withstand the elements, whether you’re strumming around the campfire, taking your tunes on the trail, or making music up high somewhere. Comprised of top quality fiberglass, carbon fiber, and bio-derived resins (all made in the US, I might add), the Alpaca Guitar is strong and lightweight – just 2.6 lbs. I love the thoughtfulness of the design, and especially the built-in daisy chain that lets you attach the guitar to your outdoor gear.

Vermont-based Alpaca Guitar creator, Chris Duncan, has launched a campaign on Kickstarter, and the idea so far has proved to be wildly popular. I sure hope it flies because I think nature and music go hand-in-hand. Having an easy, convenient source of great strumming would be a welcome addition on some of my outdoor adventures.

Learn more about Alpaca Guitar, check out the videos, links and tunes on their website. If you love the idea, give them some support on Kickstarter.

  1. My husband plays the guitar and often says he’d like to bring his along on camping or canoe trips, but there’s rarely enough room. He’s planning a cycling trip too, but I’m not sure he’d want to carry anything else, even if it is pretty light for a guitar. I’m telling him about this one though, because music definitely enhances the campfire experience.
